The Myth of Certainty: The Reflective Christian & the Risk of Commitment
By Daniel Taylor
see related

This is a really good book. I would reccomend it to you people who are very analytical and stuff... well, let me just put a description of the book here :

Do you feel equally uncomfortable with closed-minded skepticism and closed-minded Christianity?

If so, then The Myth of Certainty is the book for you. Daniel Taylor suggests a path to committed faith that is both consistent with the tradition of Christian orthodoxy and sensitive to the pluralism, relativism and complexity of our time.

Taylor makes the case for the reflective, questioning Christian with both incisive analysis and lively storytelling. His brief fictional interludes provide an alternative way to explore key issues of belief and vividly depict the real-life dilemmas Christians often face.

Taylor affirms a call to throw off the paralysis of uncertainty and to risk commitment to God without forfeiting the God-given gift of an inquiring mind. Throughout he demonstrates clearly how much the world and the church need people--maybe people like you--who are willing to ask tough questions.

Final Illustrator Project- I was not really looking forward to it because we actually have to come up with  stuff on our own and make it look good. so I go the GD lab after drawing a crappy drawing of my USB drive for Design, and i begin to work on my project, snowboard graphics. I am calling my company Dash -- Boards (hehe its a pun). anyway, I started doing stuff and it looked AMAZING, like real snowboard graphics. that was for the front. then i decided to go ahead and try to draw an idea I had in my head, picture point of view from the backseat of a car looking out the front windshield. hard to draw for me, cause, ill admit it, I'm not that good. but it was coming out PERFECTLY. like it looked exacly how I wanted it.then

BLACK!

my foot hit the power cord.

I didn't save any of it.

and now I cant get it to look right.

I cannot describe the feeling of loss I am feeling right now..

sad, because right now people are mourning the loss of something a heck of alot more important than a stupid illustration....

We call them cool
Those hearts that have no scars to show
The ones that never do let go
And risk the tables being turned

We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned

But you've got to be tough when consumed by desire
'Cause it's not enough just to stand outside the fire

We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

They're so hell-bent on giving ,walking a wire
Convinced it's not living if you stand outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly higher and higher
I can't abide
Standing outside the fire

Standing outside the fire
Standing outside the fire
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
If you're standing outside the fire
